Square Enix has started a brand new development studio in Indonesia, and it’ll be making games for mobile devices.
The studio, Square Enix Smileworks, is a joint venture by Square Enix Holdings, Smile-Lab and Japanese firm Gotanda Denshi.
The studio has already hired 23 people, 20 of whom are from the development community in Indonesia, while the other 3 are from Square’s Japanese development team.
The Java based Smileworks will be developing games for Android, iOS, Nokia Symbian and Windows Phone devices. The games will be targeted for markets in South-East Asia.
