Bayonetta 2 will release on Wii U with option touch controls, and Eurogamer was given a preview of how these will work when using the GamePad.
While players will still be able to use traditional controls, touch controls may be the best way for newcomers to the series to get used to the fast-paced action.
The touch controls also have easy and very easy difficulty settings which will allow newbies the ability to “tear through enemies and bosses alike with nothing more than taps and swipes,” says Eurogamer.
Moving and dodging are handled using swipes, and targeting works by touching the screen in specific places. Special moves can be performed using UI prompts, and Bayonetta will choose between the attacks and combos herself from one moment to the next.
The site goes on to say that the touch controls are something “absolute beginners can use for a toehold before they try to tackle any deeper challenges,” but for those already initiated into the ways of the famous witch, just use the standard controls.
Bayonetta 2 is a Wii U exclusive due in 2014.
