Edinburgh Interactive Festival to skip 2013

By Brenna Hillier

For the first time in a decade, the Edinburgh Interactive Festival is taking a year off.

MCV reports UK trade bodies UKIE and TIGA confirmed the rest year today.

The EIF is usually held in late August, and celebrates Scottish-made games as equally relevant to other local media, but did not find a sponsor this year.

Instead, the Scottish industry will be represented by other events like Dare to be Digital and Indie Fest, while UKIE and TIGA turn their attention to larger-scale events like gamescom.

UKIE CEO Dr. Jo Twist said the EIF will be back next year.

“We’re still involved with what’s going on in Scotland and look forward to bringing a big industry event back to Scotland next year,” she said.
