Gamers in India have created the Twitter hashtag #EAPCIndia to express their unhappiness with EA’s new price points for games being sold on Origin in the country. Games had been going for 1000-1500 rupees ($16.50-25), but Battlefield 4 and Need for Speed: Rivals pre-orders are going for a whopping 3500 rupees ($58).
Apparently, according to MCV India, folks elsewhere have been known to take advantage of shady VPN witchcraft to get into the Indian Origin store and buy stuff for way cheaper than they could get it elsewhere, and so EA might just be compensating for that. In any case, a lot of folks are not happy about this. For example:
Guess I won't be buying EA games this year after all! #EAPCIndia

#EAPCIndia shame on @EASPORTSFIFA for increasing the price by 133%. I will not buy #FIFA14

My only response to this: 🙁 Sorry, y’all.
Indian gaming culture is on the rise, though, according to our Debabrata Nash, who wrote up a pretty eye-opening report on the scene last month. You should read it for some context.
