For Gust it’s business as usual at Koei Temo, says Hisashi Koinuma

Hisashi Koinuma, former Omega Force producer and now EVP of Tecmo Koei, has said since Gust became subsidiary of the company, it will just continue to do what it’s always been doing: this means more Atelier in the future in case you were worried.

Speaking with Siliconera, Koinuma said the firm isn’t going to change what Gust has been doing all along, and thanks to being part of the fold, the developer has access to more tech than before to aid in development.

“They will continue the Atelier series and at the same time we will give them opportunities to do what they couldn’t have done on their own,” he said. “Since they are part of the Tecmo Koei group, Gust has access to various technology and middleware we have been developing which will help them develop more titles.”

Koinuma also said that since Tecmo Koei isn’t sure when next-generation consoles will drop in Japan, it has nothing to announced as far as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are concerned. However, being a multiplatform company, it wants to release games on all formats available.

“We are open to the new challenges PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U bring and are hoping to try out new things,” he said. “At the same time, we don’t know when the PS4 and Xbox One will be released in Japan yet.

“Once we know the timing we can schedule releases for those consoles.”
