Thatgamecompany’s next game is at least another two years away

Journey developer, thatgamecompany, is working on another game, but it is at least two years out according to a New Yorker piece.

Speaking with the magazine, Jenova Chen called the title a “risky” venture and that the multiplatform title will contain similar themes inherent in the company’s previous titles.

Like Journey before it, the game can be played solo or with others with communication being, once again, accomplished without words – but the firm hasn’t decided just yet on how players will communicate.

This time out, though, players will be able to share the experience through local co-op, because according to Chen, he wants to enable people to play side-by-side in the same room.

“A lot of people asked us why Journey didn’t let them play with friends or family, and obviously we had a reason — because that would have defeated the purpose of the game,” Chen said. “But for a game to be truly be accessible, to both children and adults and to men and women, it has to allow people to play with the ones they love.”

Earlier this month, Chen told the Telegraph the project was still “in a very pre, pre-production,” stage.

Thanks, rumrod.
