Zynga to close four games, OMGPOP.com

By Brenna Hillier

As part of its ongoing cost-cutting measures, social publisher Zynga will shutter four more games and web portal OMGPOP.com by the end of next month.

In a pair of announcements, Zynga announced the closure of the following four games by August 29:

  • Cupcake Corner
  • Gem Rush
  • Pool World Champ
  • Snoops

Additionally, OMGPOP.com will close on September 30. Draw Something, Draw Something 2 and Draw My Thing will not be affected by the closure, and will remain playable.

“We regret that this decision will affect some of our players, but we invite you to visit Zynga.com and try some of our other games,” the publisher said.

OMGPOP itself was closed in June. Zynga paid $200 million for the Draw Something developer in March 2012; the acquisition was almost immediately followed by a sharp drop in popularity of the drawing game.

Thanks, Polygon.
