God of War creator’s new studio is The Bartlet Jones Supernatural Detective Agency

God of War and Twisted Metal creator David Jaffe has announced the name of his new studio, The Bartlet Jones Supernatural Detective Agency, and confirmed a publisher has signed its new game.

In an incredulous profile feature on Polygon, Jaffe claimed his studio is being funded by the eponymous Bartlet Jones, a supernatural investigator approaching his 79th birthday. Jaffe himself has joined Bartlet on various investigations and assignments, he said, and the team makes games only when it can’t make money on ghost hunting.

Jaffe and his representatives are sticking firmly by this tale as fact, but, you know – marketing. Visit Polygon for further discussion of the matter. The games industry is getting more and more keen on this kind of thing; Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain was announced as two titles, with one being developed by a fictional European studio.

What does seem to be fact is that The Bartlet Jones Supernatural Detective Agency has a new game in the works. Jaffe won’t yet say anything about it, or even what platform it’s coming to, but did confirm a publisher has signed the project. Ubisoft, Microsoft and Sony have all been touted as contenders for this role, but Jaffe isn’t ready to make the reveal yet.

Jaffe announced his intention to found a new team in early 2012, having parted ways with Eat, Sleep, Play. The last time we heard from Jaffe, he was working on a free-to-play shooter.
