Funcom has opened beta applications for its upcoming browser-based MMO Lego Minifigures Online, in preparation for its first beta launching later this month. From the same guys that brought you The Secret World, Minifigures Online partially mimics the structure of the offline Lego games made by Traveller’s Tales, by featuring 100 characters who each have unique abilities. I’ve reposted the game’s debut trailer after the cut.
Like in Bioware’s The Old Republic, you won’t be running around Minifigures Online all by yourself. At all times you’ll be part of a three character squad you’ve put together, so you’ll never need to feel lonely.
The game’s executive producer Lawrence Poe said the Closed Beta is an “incredibly important tool” for making the “best possible game” prior to its launch.
“The whole team is looking forward to opening the door and letting players come in and experience some of the great stories, content and gameplay that we are creating.”
Lego Minifigures Online will ramp up the size of its closed beta across several phases leading into its launch next year.
Thanks, Shacknews.
