Montague’s Mount puts an Irish spin on first-person adventure to

By Brenna Hillier

Montague’s Mount is a first-person adventure set on an isolated Irish island, packed with Gaelic and built by lone Irish indie developer. This launch trailer shows off its unique atmosphere in celebration of its arrival on a variety of digital distributors.

Available now on GOG, Get Games, GamersGate and Steam, for Linux, Mac and PC, Montague’s Mount was developed by Polypusher Studios (AKA Matt Clifton, the aforementioned one Irish dude) with assistance from Mastertronic. It has players awakening on a lonely island, with no memory and a string of puzzles to solve before they can escape.

The game boasts realistic landscapes and extensive use of Gaelic giving it a distinctly local flair, and the voice talents of Derek Riddell. Previously released as a non-commercial effort, this new version has extra plotlines, diary entires, and more UI options.

Speaking of new features, Oculus Rift support will be available in northern spring 2014.

A demo is available if you’re keen to have a go, and the game is on sale at 25% off on Steam and 33% off on GOG.
