SteamWorld Dig is headed to PC, having released to quiet but almost untempred praise on 3DS earlier this year. The new version will be upon us sooner rather than later; check out fresh footage through the break.
Rock, Paper, Shotgun reports SteamWorld Dig a kind of Metroidvania with mining, is due on Steam on December 5.
Developer Image & Form said that although it had originally planned to move immediately on to a sequel to the 3DS release, but threw these plans over to build the PC release.
“The new game has been on hold for about two months now. But before it was put on hold, my brilliant co-workers at Image & Form managed to produce a fantastic vertical slice of the next SteamWorld game,” CEO Brjann Sigurgeirsson said.
“The next game in the SteamWorld series will NOT be a direct sequel to SteamWorld Dig – it will not be a SWD2, we’ll save that one for a while. The gameplay of the next game will be similar – and, at the same time, quite different.”
