ID@Xbox devs pitching “really cool concepts” using Kinect & SmartGlass, says Charla

By Dave Cook

Xbox One’s indie game program ID@Xbox has seen a wealth of developers pitching new concepts that are “gratifyingly all over the map,” according to the scheme’s boss Chris Charla. He feels that several of the concepts could be exclusive to Microsoft’s format, given that their embedded use Kinect and SmartGlass.

It follows Charla’s enthusiasm to see No Man’s Sky on Xbox One. Find out what he said about the game through the link.

Now, speaking with OXM, Charla commented on the volume of games being pitched to Microsoft, and the wide spread of concepts therein. Could any of these games become Xbox One-exclusive?

“I really can’t say,” he replied, “not because I don’t want to, but because I’m flicking through the Rolodex of game concepts I’ve seen come in… It’s gratifyingly all over the map, I’ll put it that way. I don’t know, because the developers have only told me about the version they’re making for Xbox One! But I will say that there are some really cool concepts that have come in which make use of Kinect and SmartGlass, so it’s pretty exciting in that way – some of those games would be hard to put on another platform.”

ID@Xbox has signed 32 developers to Xbox One. You’ll find the full list of studios here.
