Planetside 2 dev looking at more end-game progression content

Planetside 2 develoepr Sony Online Entertainment is hoping to implement new systems giving veteran players something to work towards besides better gear.

In a Reddit AMA harvested by PCGamesN, creative director Matt Higby admitted that many Planetside 2 players have already started to run out of things to do – a problem many MMOs face.

“Right now the cert system is basically the thing we have to provide for that, which is problematic. At a certain point people will run out of things to unlock, we’re not trying to run a non-stop gear treadmill game,” he said.

Higby said the team is looking at ways to provide a sense of personal progression unrelated to equipment.

“This will allow us to provide those long term ‘reach’ goals without having to either price new players out of important gear, make a punishingly steep grind for advanced upgrades or continuously inflate the number of upgrades at the end of the treadmill like most MMO games do,” he explained.

MMO shooter Planetside 2 is now available on PC and coming to PS4.
