PS4 voucher redemption roll-out continues

By Brenna Hillier

PlayStation 4 owners will be pleased to learn Sony has confirmed it is increasing the availability of voucher redemption, which was disabled at the console’s launch to ease the burden on servers caused by an influx of new users.

“We have been working on the PSN service roll-out throughout the weekend and are continually increasing the availability of the voucher redemption functionality,” an overnight update on the PlayStation Blog said.

“The next phase of the roll out is to introduce the What’s New Activity Feed and Live Item in the Content Information Screen, which we will be able to update you on tomorrow. Thank you for your continued patience as we manage PSN to restore full service.”

Voucher redemption was one of a couple of features disabled to help ensure as smooth a launch as is possible when millions of excited people all hook up their consoles at the same time.

Although switching off the the What’s New Activity feed caused a great deal of localised displeasure in the home of our social media-addicted EIC, vouchers were the big one, as players were unable to cash in their upgrade deals going from PS3 to PS4.

Are you one of the lucky ones whose been able to redeem an upgrade voucher? It’d be good to know how extensive the issue is.
