Visceral Games working on military shooter, possible brand extension of Battlefield – Pachter

By Stephany Nunneley

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has told Eurogamer it is Dead Space developer Visceral Games making the shooter he was alluding to earlier this morning.

Earlier this morning, Patcher said in an email to media outlets he believed Criterion Games is working on a military shooter, and that it was possibly a brand extension of Battlefield.

Original Story

Pachter doesn’t believe Battlefield 5 will be delayed outside of Electronic Arts’ 2015 financial year which ends March 31, 2015.

“We believe this speculation is unfounded,” he said. “Although EA has as yet to announce a Battlefield extension for FY15, we believe Criterion Games is working on a military shooter that may become a brand extension for the Battlefield franchise in FY15.

“We spoke with management on Thursday afternoon, and although they have not yet announced a version of Battlefield for FY15, they confirmed that our understanding is spot on and that if a version of Battlefield were to be released in FY15, it would be developed by a studio other than DICE.”

Back in August, Criterion announced it was moving away from racing games, thus handing the Need for Speed series over to Ghost Games.

EA announced earlier this week that DICE would cease working on Battlefield 4 expansions until all issues with the game were ironed out. Development on Battlefront 3 was also halted until all problems inherent in the game since launch were fixed.

Thanks, Eurogamer.
