Guild01’s missing game rated by Australian Classification Board

Weapon Shop de Omasse, the only game from Level-5’s Guild01 compilation yet to see release in the west, looks to be on its way over at last.

A western release seems pretty likely, as the Australian Classification Board has awarded it a PG rating; publishers have to pay for these assessments, so they aren’t done on a whim.

The ACB has it down as multi-platform; other Guild01 games were released on iOS as well as original platform 3DS.

Weapon Shop de Omasse is a twist on the RPG genre in that players run a shop visited by adventurers, using rhythm gameplay to forge weapons.

When Weapon Shop de Omasse didn’t arrive alongside Liberation Maiden, Crimson Shroud and Aero Porter, Level-5 told Siliconera it was a much weightier localisation project than its stablemates.

“We need to consider the high pedigree of translation required, and the time and money needed to do that with this amount of text may surprise you. Another factor we need to consider is whether or not a large enough audience outside of Japan would appreciate a game that relies so heavily on knowledge of Japanese culture,” the developer said.

The Guild series is quite cool. Level-5 invites prominent Japanese designers – and even some celebrities – to craft small-ish games, which it then releases at Japanese retail in a compilation cartridge for 3DS. Two instalments have released so far, and we’ve been lucky enough to receive most of the individual games on the 3DS eShop in the west. A third instalment is anticipated but not confirmed.
