One of Harmonix’s unannounced projects has been cancelled, apparently, and although we have no way of knowing which one, there are several interesting prospects.
According to a Harmonix designer’s CV turned up by Superannuation on Kotaku, an “unannounced Xbox One Kinect title” has been given the axe.
We know the developer was working on at least three projects as of March 2013, one of which turned out to be Fantasia: Music Evolved, as well as mobile titles.
Of the remaining two, we’re not so sure. We had expected a new Dance Central, but haven’t heard anything about it, so perhaps it was cancelled, assuming it ever truly existed.
One of the mysterious titles seems to be called Chroma, and Super notes that the company has filed several domain registrations for this name recently, suggesting whatever it was hasn’t been given the chop.
Whether it’s the cancelled project or the apparently flourishing Chroma, Harmonix was working on something pretty unusual for the music-focused team, with combat, narrative and levels.
Although we can’t be certain the cancellation is related, Harmonix did issue lay offs late last year.
