Mojang announced overnight that the PS3 version of Minecraft has sold over 1 million copies.
The game launched on the platform December 17, 2013, meaning it hit the magic number five-weeks post launch.
Comparatively, the Xbox 360 version of the game, developed by 4J Studios, was released on May 9, 2012 and hit the one million milestone in five days. As of December 2013, the Xbox 360 Edition had sold 10 million copies.
It was announced around the same time in December the PC and Mac version had surpassed 13 million units. Looking over the game’s sales counter today, it reads the game has now sold 13,896,050 copies. In the last 24 hours alone, 17,647 people have purchased the game.
The pocket edition for mobiles surpassed 10 million in sales as of May 2013.
Minecraft is currently in the works for Xbox One, as well as PlayStation 4 and Vita.
It was rumored last year the game may be heading to Wii U as well, but we’ve heard nothing on the matter since.
Mojang is also working on Minecraft Realms, which will provide its younger players a safer environment to mine and build to their little heart’s content.
