SimCity’s most asked for feature by the community is the ability to play offline, EA’s usual response was that the simulation is not an offline game. All of this is going to change however since the game will be getting an offline mode.
In a new blog post developer Maxis detailted the initiative, “Yes, Offline is coming as a free download with Update 10 to all SimCity players. When we launch it, all of your previously downloaded content will be available to you any time, anywhere, without the need for an internet connection.
“In Update 10, you can still play solo in Regions on your own, or in Multiplayer with people from around the world….Bringing the game Offline means big things for our wonderful community of Modders. They can now make modifications to the game and its components without compromising the integrity of the Online game.”
Offline mode cropped up last year in an EA survey, following the game’s less than stellar launch. What originally started as a user ‘hack’ from some modders, the mode was said to be looked into by the developer and it looks like it will finally come to fruition.
Update 10 is not yet dated, however the developer promised to release more information very soon.
Do think it’s too little, too late? Let us know below.
