Assassin’s Creed 4’s Freedom Cry DLC receiving standalone release on PlayStation, PC

Assassin’s Creed 4’s story DLC campaign Freedom Cry, about Kenway’s pal Adewale inciting a slave revolt in Saint Domingue, will soon be separated from the regular Assassin’s Creed IV package and released as a standalone game on PS3, PS4 and PC.

The PlayStation editions will arrive on February 18, with PC following a week later, and all editions will be priced at $15, a $5 markup from the version that depends on owning the base Assassin’s Creed 4 game. Currently there is no news about this arrangement happening for the Xbox or Wii U versions.

According to Ubisoft exec Tony Key, they’re making this move because they see it as being a unique enough experience to warrant it: “Assassin’s Creed Freedom Cry delivers key elements of an Assassin’s Creed game, including a new hero, new environments and new weapons.”
