Activision Blizzard’s board of directors have awarded CEO Bobby Kotick a huge cash bonus for 2013, despite revenue decreases.
A SEC filing reveals Kotick has been awarded $7.85 million as a cash bonus, a huge increase on the $2.5 million he was given in 2012.
The bonus comes on top of his salary of $2.1 million and stock awards.
Activision Blizzard noted lower sales and profits in 2013 than 2012, but the board praised Kotick’s performance during a “transformative year”, as the twin publisher remained profitable and hit targets despite weathering the next-gen transition and purchasing itself from former parent company Vivendi.
Activision Blizzard’s portfolio includes Call of Duty, Diablo, Skylanders, StarCraft and World of Warcraft.
