Dota 2 documentary Free to Play has been viewed by over 5.5 Million viewers, Valve says

Valve’s Dota 2 documentary, Free to Play, was released last week, and over the weekend the film had over 5.5 million viewers, according to the developer.

In a press release sent to VG247, Valve confirmed that the number of views was during the film’s opening weekend, making it “one of the largest debuts of any documentary film.”

The film was released last week on Twitch, YouTube, iTunes, Steam and currently holds a 9.3 rating on IMDB.

Free to Play is a documentary created internally at Valve, and it takes a look into the lives of three professional gamers who speak different languages and come from different continents, sharing passion for the game and the desire to win Valve’s The International, which has a $1 million prize.
