Ubisoft isn’t ready to develop games for virtual reality just yet, in fact, the tech would need to sell 1 million units before the firm would consider development.
Speaking during a round table session at GDC 2014, Ubisoft’s VP of creative Lionel Raynaud, said Oculus Rift or Sony’s Project Morpheus need to sell big first.
“VR would need to sell at least 1 million units to be viable for development,” Raynaud said.
Oculus Rift is currently still in a dev kit SKU while Sony just announced its VR headset last night.
Neither firm has stated when we can expect commercial versions to land in stores, but rumblings around the Internet have both arriving sometime before the end of the year.
Thanks, Gamespot.
