Xbox One sign-in issues resolved, reboot may be required

Xbox One sign-in issues have been resolved, Microsoft support believes, although users may need to restart their consoles to access Xbox Live.

Five hours on from the first acknowledgement of the issue, Microsoft believs it has resolved the problem.

“Were you experiencing issues signing in to Xbox Live? We are very happy to say that our team has fixed the problem and the Live service is ready and waiting,” the Xbox Live status homepage notes.

“If you are experiencing any lingering issues, try a cold reboot of your Xbox by powering down, unplugging, waiting ten seconds, plugging back in and powering back on. Thanks for all your patience while our team was working.”

Earlier today, some Xbox One users were unable to sign into Xbox Live.

“Unable to sign in to Xbox Live on Xbox One? We’re on the case to get this issue fixed as soon as possible,” Xbox Support said on Twitter.

Three hours after this initial post, the account confirmed the issue was ongoing.

“We are still working to resolve users who are experiencing difficulties signing into Xbox Live on Xbox One.”

Although the issue was described as limited rather than widespread, it was quite a painful one, with error messages popping up when users attempt to sign into Xbox Live from their Xbox One consoles.

The problem affected Xbox Live as a whole – it was not a Titanfall issue, despite yesterday’s unfortunate comment about any potential Titanfall launch problems being Microsoft’s problem.

The issue followed a brief period when players could not join multiplayer matches in Titanfall and Forza 5. Titanfall’s launch is an important moment for Microsoft, both because it has backed the Respawn debut as a killer app and because it is the first game to launch with such extensive Azure server support.
