Hover: Revolt of Gamers – futuristic openworld parkour game doubles Kickstarter goal

Midgar Studios has put its next project, and open-world parkour game, up on Kickstarter. Titled Hover: Revolt of Gamers, it was inspired by Jet Set Radio and Mirror’s Edge. The team asked for $38,000 in funding, and with 23 days left, it has surpassed that goal with $62,966 pledged.

The premise of the game has players taking on a world were video games are outlawed. Players must free consoles and disperse them to the people. Midgar said the game was

Players can choose from various characters to play and clans to join up with, and they will have the ability to customize their character’s looks.

Three stretch goals have already been met, with the next on the horizon doubling the size of the game world. Another stretch goal is a Wii U version with local multiplayer and asymmetrical gameplay .

Hover has been approved on Steam Greenlight and is slated for release on Linux, Mac and PC with Oculus Rift support. A PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version are also in the works.

The game is set for release in 2015.
