The golf sim’s developer HB Studios said to keep in mind that the game and its procedurally-generated courses with no loading times, a course creator, and extensive online functionality is “still an alpha.” Therefore, there will be bugs, missing features and content and more optimizations to be made.

“The reason for doing an Early Access version is that a lot of people want to get involved, give feedback and help shape the final product, said the developer. “Right now the full core experience and Course Creator are available – you can create courses, share them, rate them and play locally and online against friends and rivals.

“Three Themes are available – Alpine, Rural and Autumn – plus all the male characters and 5 official The Golf Club courses. As development progresses, we’ll be adding additional features and refinements leading up to the full release which will include features like Tours and Tournaments.”

The full list of features and enhancements that will be added for the full release:

  • Tournaments – Online and Local
  • Tours – Online and Local
  • Female Golfers
  • Two extra Themes – Desert and Links
  • More objects, wildlife and buildings for the Course Creator
  • Twitter Integration
  • Greater visibility for social features
  • More HB created (‘official’) courses
  • More commentary
  • Localized versions – French, Spanish, German, Portugese, Italian
