It’s not been a great week for Microsoft. Pulling Kinect from the Xbox One was seen as the final u-turn for a games consoles that’s been chasing its own tail almost since it was first revealed.
We know games players, fanboys and the press were happy to take a dig at another climb-down from the Xbox corporation, but you’d expect a little more solidarity from games developers. Wouldn’t you?
George Broussard (Duke Nukem) got straight to the point.
Kinect has always been a piece of shit. I'm surprised and encouraged Microsoft will sell a One without it. Good move. Faith increased.

Rami Ismail (Ridiculous fishing, Luftrausers) went for the burn…
Todays Xbox One news just makes me think of the sound & the little bow the old Kinect made during shutdown.

But he did make a good point about indie development.
Anyway, Microsoft, if you're taking more cues from Sony's playbook, maybe get to the page where Sony doesn't have default launch parity.

We’re not entirely sure what point David Jaffe (Twisted Metal, God of War) was making, or whether a 13 year-old fanboy had taken over his account briefly.
Fuuuck- 399w/no Kinect? Now it's a fuckin war (stupid analogy but there it is). Get Ninty to drop the pad and the price and shit=REALS:)!

Ben Cousins (Battlefield F2P, The Drowning, ) offered some smug historical insight.
I was at working at Sony when they/we said no to the Kinect tech. The reason? Too expensive. It's taken MS a long time to figure this out

Dan Marshall (Time, Gentlemen Please!) injected a little British humour.
Good work, everyone. Now let's REALLY mess around with them and demand they make Kinect mandatory again #BringBackKinect #Kinect4Life

While Devolver Digital’s fictional CFO Fork Parker was only thinking of the children…
Without a Kinect all these kids are going to get fat.

…he may have also hit the nail on the head.
Hey, maybe people don't want motion controls.

Dropping Kinect wasn’t a surprise to some people blessed with foresight, as noted by Ed Boon (Mortal Kombat).
I believe I heard @michaelpachter predict this a while back… #HeToldUsSo http://t.co/u20fFNxlbr

And after all this, what does Kudo Tsunoda, creative director of the original Kinect 1.0 think? Oh, that’s right, he’s not been very active for a while… maybe he’s still playing those games?
i finally got home. Been on the road for weeks. Catching up on video game playing.
