The new controls will await feedback from beta testers before the new controls are added to Xbox One system update in May.

New feature set to roll-out next week include a sound mixer for snapped apps, chat volume controls when using Kinect and the option to help improve speech recognition.

Under Settings, Microsoft has added two new features for controlling audio options. The new Sound mixer allows the user to control the volume levels of two apps when using Snap, so they can determine which app is loudest. Under the same section, users will also be able to control volume levels Kinect is being used for chat.

Testers can also opt-in to help system engineers improve speech recognition, because according to Microsoft, the more voice samples it has to input into its algorithms, the better and more responsive Xbox One becomes.

Users can go into Settings, then Privacy & Online Safety, go to Customizing, and then set Share Voice Data to ‘Allow’. Again, it is completely optional.

There are more details on the audio improvements through a post by Major Nelson on Xbox Wire.
