Go on – tell Microsoft what you really think of Xbox One

Just in time to enjoy the warm fuzzy puppy feelings generated by the best Microsoft E3 conference in years, a new portal has opened to collect your feedback on all things Xbox.

Xbox Feedback, confusingly accessible at the URL xbox.uservoice.com, is basically a forum hosted and moderated by Microsoft with the aim of gathering opinions from its user base.

The company describes it as “the most effective place for your ideas, suggestions, and feedback to be seen by the teams that create Xbox products and services”. It invites you to suggest new features, enhancements to existing features, and vote on ideas submitted by others.

“Of course, your great ideas do take time to develop and deploy to Xbox, but we’ll be sure to update entries here when we do announce or release a suggestion from Xbox Feedback,” Microsoft added.

What makes this all so interesting is that Microsoft, at one time perceived as an oblivious giant far removed from the needs, wants and frothing rage of its users, pivoted massively in 2013 following the announcement of the Xbox One.

The platform holder reversed its policies on always-on DRM, mandatory Kinect use and several other unpopular aspects of the new console in response to a huge outcry from fans – and that was before it opened a website where you could just go and give it your two cents without effort. Goodness knows what’ll happen now; expect it to pirouette on the spot, maybe.
