Doom runs on anything – including ATMs

Doom is now playable on automatic teller machines, because Australians are great.

Some industrious Australian modders ripped open an ATM cabinet to make it capable of running Doom.

Although the heart of the Windows XP machine is well up to the task, the group had to make several additions to its innards as well as install custom software to remap keys.

You can check out the project in the video below, and Engadget reports that since this footage was taken the group has made additional progress.

The quest to get Doom running on every device possible is a longstanding one, but fever for the classic id Software shooter has been reignited by the recent sneak preview of the next game at QuakeCon 2014.

A reboot incorporating elements of the first two Doom games, the new Doom will include run-and-gun focused gameplay, double jumping, the chainsaw and many other classic shooter elements.
