We have no idea what Echelons of Truth is or why EA registered the domain

Echelons of Truth is a domain which has been filed by publisher EA, and unlike some domain registrations or trademarks, this one is a bit of a head-scratcher.

Found by the NeoGAF folks, the domain was registered on June 27, 2014 and folks on the forum are theroizing it could signify a DLC drop for an upcoming or game title such as Dragon Age, Battlefield or Mass Effect.

Considering one of the definitions of the world Echelon is one’s “level of command,” it’s possible it could be future DLC for the Battlefield: Hardline. Echelon is also a military hierarchical formation named after the pattern birds take in the sky when migrating. Just look at a flock of geese next time you hear them overhead.

It’s possible the content could be based on ECHELON, the electronic intelligence-gathering operation or at least inspired by it.

The word also has another meaning, but we doubt it has anything to do with a way of arranging parked cars – unless EA is working on a car parking simulator.

Considering all of this, Echelons of Truth could indeed be something militaristic, or it could be a new version of either the 2001 flight simulator game, the 1998 strategy game or the 1987 space flight simulator game – all of which were called Echelon.

We’ll just have to wait and see, I suppose.
