Sierra is back, baby; a new teaser video and website suggest the famed 1990’s adventure publisher is make a comeback.
The video below launched via the newly-launched Sierra.com and accompanying YouTube channel. It seems to indicate that Sierra parent Activision is resurrecting the brand.
The words “gamescom 2014” appear after the trailer plays, so there’s not long to wait now.
There’s no reason to doubt the site and teaser’s veracity; the production values are high, there’s nothing of concern in the source code, and the domain was registered by Activision. The publisher owns Sierra and all its properties thanks to the 2008 Vivendi Games merge, but hasn’t done anything with the label since then.
There have been signs that the Sierra brand might be coming back. As Polygon cleverly observed, TellTale shuttered its Kings Quest game last year – perhaps because Activision needed the license back?
Geoff Keighley of SpikeTV, who’s often in on announcements ahead of the rest of us, was one of the first to flag the new site’s launch.

Sounds like he knows something, doesn’t it? Stay tuned for gamescom, which kicks off next week.
Sierra is best remembered for its adventure games, notably Kings Quest, Space Quest, Police Quest, Quest for Glory, Gabriel Knight and Leisure Suit Larry. However, it also published a number of Valve’s early games as well as picking up Crash Bandicoot and Spyro.
