The Resident Evil remake is looking pretty good

By Brenna Hillier

Compare Resident Evil’s latest remake with an older one in side-by-side screenshots.

The “before” shots are from the Wii port of the 2002 GameCube remake, which is why they don’t make your eyes bleed quite as much as the PSOne version would. It’s not clear what platform the “after” screens were taken from, unfortunately, but I suspect PS3 or Xbox 360, since the announcement screens were last-gen. Also I quite hope the PS4 and Xbox One version will have nicer blacks, for example.

If you care to visit Capcom Unity, you can view these screenshots with a whizz-bang slider thingy. I have no idea how to do that but have immediately written to Pat demanding our CMS support it, because it is so cool.

As a special bonus, Capcom handed over a couple of screenshots that were published in Japan but not included in the batch we got when the Resident Evil remake was announced.

Resident Evil is being rebuilt for PC, PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, with an optional new control scheme in addition to upgraded visuals.
