Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners will soon be able to purchase digital download codes for some games and add-ons at shops in the UK and US.
The news comes from Major Nelson’s blog, where he reveals that the first content available will be limited to just a few items. “We’re kicking this off with digital download codes for select map and expansion packs for franchises like Halo and Forza, as well as fan favourite digital games including Max: Curse of the Brotherhood and State of Decay.” He goes on to say that more games will be coming soon, as well as availability in more countries.
Although most digital sales will still go directly through the Xbox Games Store, this offers another option for consumers, and sees Microsoft push ahead of Sony and Nintendo in its digital retail offerings.
