The Platinum Games release could also explain the slight units sales increase for Wii U. How slight? 1,334 units. Still, an increase in unit sales – no matter how small – is always a plus.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS was still tops on the list after its debut last week. Day one the title moved 944,644 units, and for the September 15-21 period, it moved an additional 321,363 units.
At present, lifetime units sales have hit 1,266,008 units.
Destiny maintained spots in the top 6 again this week, bringing lifetime sales on PS3 to 67,896 units and on PS4 104,291 units. During September 15-21, the PS3 version landed in fourth while the PS4 version came in sixth.
Pokemon X and Y was back in the top 20, and the game is coming up on its one-year anniversary in the region. Released October 12, 2013, the 3DS title has moved 4,144,405 units total in Japan.
On the hardware side, systems sales were bit flat compared to the previous week, except for the newest systems on the market: PS4 and Xbox One.
PS4 came in third on the hardware chart, but sales plummeted to 8,939 compared to 23,623 units week-over-week.
Xbox One sales hit 1,314 compared to 3,015 units the prior week.
