Pillars of Eternity delayed into early 2015 to incorporate beta feedback

By Stephany Nunneley

Pillars of Eternity will no longer release in late 2014, but will instead arrive in early 2015.

Due to feedback derived from Kickstarter backers during the beta, changes are being incorporated “to ensure fans absolutely get the best game possible.”

“Since the very beginning of this project we promised our fans and ourselves that we would release this game only when we knew it would be absolutely ready for the best experience possible,” said Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart.

“We’re very close to that point, but not quite there yet. The feedback we have received through our playtest process has been invaluable to us. We are coming into the home stretch but are pushing the release out just a bit to make sure we honor that promise we made originally.
Thanks for your patience and support, it will be worth the wait.”

Neither Obsidian nor Paradox, the game’s physical publisher, provided an exact date for release in 2015, but hopefully the extra bit of polishing won’t take too long.

Just for transparency’s sake, I backed Pillars of Eternity when it was on Kickstarter at the $20 tier, which is the game only. It is the only game I’ve ever crowdfunded, and I did not participate in the beta.

That being said, I’m looking forward to playing it when it comes out.
