PlayStation 4’s Share Play feature allows users to stream games from one console to another, but the guest’s game will be capped at 720p resolution and will suffer a frame-rate hit.
Share Play is one of the major new features coming to PlayStation 4 with system update 2.00.
The feature allows any PlayStation 4 owner with a PS Plus subscription to invite any other PS4 owner to play a game. This can be used to play a local multiplayer games or help a friend by taking over a specific part of the game.
Eurogamer attended an event where Sony showed off the feature in more detail and demonstrated how it works. The site reports that a game of FIFA 15 was played by two players on different PS4 consoles, each connected to the internet through a wired connection.
The image quality was reportedly impressive with no lag. Despite that, the guest’s game was capped at 720p resolution with some frame-rate drops.
We’re going to undoubtedly hear more on how this feature fares in the real world once the everyone gets the update tomorrow.
