Xbox One’s November and December updates won’t deliver the much-requested screenshot feature.
The Xbox One does a lot of things but the success of the PS4’s Share feature has made some fans disgruntled that their console can’t quickly and easily take and share screenshots.
Microsoft boss Phil Spencer told IGN that the feature is coming, but not this year.
“As we come back into the new year, we’ll see new stuff, and screenshots is on the list,” he said.
“It’s a little more technically challenging than I thought. Two weeks ago, they think they’ve found a good solution for screenshots. They’re working on it. They know people want it. The team has a path to getting it done, and now it’s just prioritizing.”
Spencer said the team doesn’t want to just grab frames from video for screenshots, presumably because the results aren’t as high quality as proper stills.
As for what is coming to the console in the next few months, the Xbox One November update was detailed recently. The December update will be pretty modest, Spencer said, because of the rush of new consoles coming online over the holidays.
Thanks, Gamespot.
