Game of Thrones – A Telltale Games Series details and platforms announced

By Stephany Nunneley

Telltale Games’ first episode in its Game of Thrones series, Iron From Ice, will be released on both last and current-gen platforms the company announced today.

The game tells the tale of House Forrester during The War of the Five Kings, and the events start towards the end of Season Three of the TV show and end right before Season Five starts. The Forresters are canon to the world created by George R. R. Martin and appear in the novel “A Dance with Dragons”.

King’s Landing, The Wall and other familiar and unfamiliar locations will be visited. The Ironrath, the home of House Forrester will take precedence.

Here’s the background on House Forrester via Telltale’s blog:

“A noble house from the Wolfswood in the north of Westeros, Bannermen to House Glover, they have always offered unswerving loyalty to the ruling great house of the North – the Starks. The Forresters are seated at Ironrath, an imposing stronghold surrounded by towering ironwood trees. Built over fifteen hundred years ago by Cedric Forrester and his triplet sons, Ironrath is a testament to the strength and endurance of Ironwood. The Forrester house words are ‘Iron from Ice’, which echoes their belief that – like the ironwood itself – the adverse conditions and unforgiving landscape of the North only makes them stronger.”

Sitting within the ironwood forest in Westeros, House Forrester controls the “majority of the ironwood forests in the Wolfswood,” and are in a bitter rivalry with House Whitehill.

Five different points of view will be told through gameplay, and each character is a member of House Forrester or in service to the House.

Actions of one character can affect the rest of the House.

Additional details on the series and its upcoming premiere episode, ‘Iron From Ice’ are forthcoming, said the developer.

The first of six episodes will arrive “soon” on iOS, Mac, PC, PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One with additional platforms to be announced.
