The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D was confirmed in today’s Nintendo Direct. Plus: Pikmin movies, Amiibo details, Mario Kart DLC release dates and much more.
The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D will release in northern spring 2015, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata confirmed in a Nintendo Direct presentation today.
Little was said about the project, although Iwata commented on the unusual aspects of the RPG, which is one of the darker entries in the series.
We’ve been expecting this one for quite some time now, as Nintendo has openly discussed the possibility, made a couple of teases and said that the 2000 N64 classic was a “turning point” for the franchise.

Nintendo then went on to discuss Codename S.T.E.A.M., a project it hasn’t discussed since its E3 2014 reveal. Tom Swayer has joined the cast, and a release window of northern spring 2015 was mentioned.
Ultimate NES Remix was showcased next. It’s coming on December 5, and includes leaderboards and Famicom remix. Meanwhile, NES Remix 3 for Wii U arrives on the eShop later today.
Speaking of the eShop, Shovel Knight hits 3DS and Wii U today, too, along with a demo for Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker was up next, with a quick look at this new puzzler. Nintendo says it has more than 70 levels. It hits Wii U on January 2 in Europe.
The first Mario Kart 8 DLC drops on November 13, Nintendo said. It brings new courses, karts and characters, including F-Zero and The Legend of Zelda tracks.
Nintendo showed of a new four-player mode for Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, which hits Wii U in February in North America and the second half of 2015 in Europe.
The original NES Duck Hunt is coming soon to Wii U via Virtual Console, Nintendo said. Duck Hunt Dog will also be playable in the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros.
Pausing briefly to discuss Monster Hunter 4G, which hits 3DS in Europe in early 2015, Nintendo teased Mario and Luigi costumes for Felynes.
Nintendo spent quite a lot of time discussing Amiibos, its NFC-enabled figurines. One example of their use is to generate character-themed costumes for your Mii in Mario Kart 8.
In Hyrule Warriors, every Super Smash Bros.-compatible Amiibo will grant the player a unique weapon or item.
12 Amiibo will be released on November 21, with six more arriving in December, and many more in early 2015, said Nintendo of America.

Shigeru Miyamoto then arrived to discuss Pikmin. The short movies are being made available for purchase via the Wii U eShop immediately after broadcast, at $4.99/£4.49 each.
A Pikmin 3 demo is available too, and supports save file transfers to the full game.
Splatoon is expected on Wii U in the second quarter of 2015, Miyamoto said. He also revealed that it has a single-player mode.

During the Japanese presentation, Gust confirmed a “chibi” re-release of Atelier Rorona for 3DS in 2015.
Xenoblade Chronicles X made a brief appearance, but only so Nintendo could say it is targeting a 2015 release.
