Rockstar Games has promised a Christmas gift for GTA Online players as they continue to wait for Heists to be released in the New year.
In a Q&A session on the official site today, the developer said it was addressing the long wait and patience of the GTA Online community, after Heists were originally announced way back in 2013.
“We, as a company, have always been about trying to make something that is good rather than hitting a date,” said Rockstar of the delay.
“We apologize when this gets frustrating but firmly believe that rushing out second-rate content does not do anyone any favors. Hopefully you agree that yesterday’s new Trailer is a sign that Heists are shaping up nicely, but we still need some time to fine tune them.
“Because we need a little time to get Heists right, we are going to give you a small Christmas gift to keep you entertained until we are done with them.”
Speculation from the GTA Online community is currently revolving around a Christmas update to the game in a similar vein to the Independence Day Celebration DLC.
A “small” gift might not be as generous as to include new weapons, items, vehicles and playlists as with previous DLC, but some are expecting snow in the city of Los Santos at least – a question that Rockstar sort-of addressed.
“We prefer to keep such things as a surprise, but without giving away any details (no peeking under the tree!), we can say that we do have a few seasonal treats in the works for players on all four systems to enjoy this coming holiday season in GTA Online. Look for details on that very soon.”
Rockstar also released two new screenshots from GTA Online Heists, one of which includes the new armoured sports car.
