Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix is out today in North America on PlayStation 3, prepping newcomers to the series for the upcoming Kingdom Hearts 3. Does this mean today’s release could eventually arrive for PS4 and Xbox One users? Possibly, according to co-producer Tai Yasue.
Speaking with IGN, Yasue said PS4 and Xbox One versions of the Remix collection “is something we’ll explore.”
“We understand what our players want, so we will explore the possibility,” he said. “I’m not making any announcements though, we can’t make any announcements yet.”
Most fans of the series already own the previous iterations on Nintendo and Sony consoles, and with Kingdom Hearts 3 being the first title in the series to release on an Xbox console, Microsoft owners have been unable to get caught up on the franchise.
Yasue said he’s unsure at this point whether a Remix version will be released on Xbox One any time soon due to “schedule constraints” with Kingdom Hearts 3’s development; however, the team will consider a future release “and come to a decision.”
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix was released in Japan on October 2 and arrive in Europe later this week on December 5.
