The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt contains 16 hours of sex scene mo-cap data

Sex is nothing new to the The Witcher games, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is no exception. In fact, it contains 16 hours of sex scene motion capture data. Giggity.

There’s a reason for the bedroom dalliances though, as Geralt is a flesh and blood human, or a modified human at any rate, with desires and emotions.

Because of this, CD Proket doesn’t just toss in horizontal bopping for mere titillation, although it can be downright sexy – and the first instance occurs right from the start of the game. We won’t spoil things for you by telling you her name.

“People might think we’re putting sex into the opening scene for no good reason,” senior game designer Damien Monhier told The Guardian. “No, no, no. We are establishing that your character was intimate with this woman recently in order to plant in your mind that, at very least, he must enjoy her company.”

“Through sex we have shown that this is a person who Geralt would be compelled to chase after if she went missing. Sex is the quickest way in which to establish the relationship and provide a justification for the player to pursue this woman.

“We couldn’t just tell you to go find someone you don’t know or care about. It wouldn’t work.”

Sounds like the Captain Kirk of the medieval world is finally ready to settle down with one woman. Most of us know who it is, but, we’ll keep mum on the matter for the uninitiated.

As long as its realistic, is vital to the plot and fleshing out the characters, there’s nothing wrong with such scenes in a mature game. Now, if a game ever includes the German Knuckle Cake or Cleveland Steamer, that could be considered a valid reason to snort in haughty derision.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt arrives on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One May 19.

Thanks, PC Gamer.
