Watch EVE Online players grow up with the game

By Brenna Hillier

EVE Online is the kind of game that sucks you in and holds you. New data from developer CCP suggests a huge whack of players have been on board the space sandbox for ten years.

The video below shows the age of EVE Online players from July 2003 to December 2014.

As the years roll by the shift in the graph is pretty subtle, but worth noticing.

Here’s July 2003:

And here’s November 2014:

See it? No? Well, CCP provided this handy comparison slide of the age players are when they start, and the age they are now.

It sure looks like a significant number of players have stuck with the MMO for ten whole years.

That sort of loyalty is rarely seen in games; World of Warcraft can probably make a similar claim, and I’m sure there are others, but most games come out of the disc tray and into the storage cupboard (or the trade-in market!) once the DLC dries up. Good stuff, CCP.
