Graphic design student Wesley Arthur has recreated the boy’s dormitory in Rockstar’s Bully using Unreal Engine 4, and it provides you with a perfect example of how smashing an HD remake would look on today’s consoles and PC.
In the video description, Arthur said the current-gen homage to one of his “all-time favorite games” was made to demonstrate his “prop art skills” as a part of his Masters degree at Sheffield Hallam University.
“The level closely replicates the original layout in order to maximize its recognizability, but each asset has been carefully redesigned and built from scratch,” he stated.
As part of his university project, Arthur is producing an art book which provides a breakdown of the skills and techniques he utilized.
Once completed, he will release a PDF so it can be viewed in its entirety.
Rockstar boss Dan Houser said back in September 2013 he would like to revisit Bully, but wouldn’t comment on whether a sequel was planned for the future.
Bully was originally released in 2006 on PlayStation 2 before its release as a remake subtitled Scholarship Edition in 2008 on PC, Wii and Xbox 360.
If you haven’t given it a go already, if you pre-order GTA 5 on PC, the Scholarship Edition is one of the free games to choose from as an incentive.
Thanks, Eurogamer.
