Final Fantasy 15 demo Episode Duscae will not allow players to try the car out, as Square Enix didn’t want players to get the impression it was “a driving game.”
This is according to the game’s director Hajime Tabata, who told Polygon the car was once included in the demo, but the team decided it would be best to exclude it.
“Originally we were planning on making the car be available,” he said, “but we didn’t want people to mistake it and think ‘When did Final Fantasy become a driving game?'”
The demo will instead focus on the characters and exploring part of the game’s open-world, which Tabata said has been re-worked to be both “playable and accessible” to people familiar with the Final Fantasy franchise.
Square previously said the Episode Duscae demo will only be available through first shipment copies of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, as a “special gift” for those who purchase early; however, all Collector’s Edition copies will include access to the demo.
Final Fantasy Type-0 is an HD upgrade of the PSP RPG and it releases on PS4 and Xbox One March 17 in North America, March 19 in Japan and March 20 in Europe.
Final Fantasy 15 is without a release date.
