Lara Croft: Relic Run trademark sounds like a mobile title

By Stephany Nunneley

Square Enix has filed a trademark in Europe for Lara Croft: Relic Run, and the filing provides zero specifics.

Nix. Zip. Diddly. Bupkis. Niente.

All that’s known, is the trademark was filed on February 11 under goods and services spanning section nine which contains “computer games software, computer games, video game software, games for mobile phones,” and the like covering all video-related aspects.

The trademarks also covered print materials and online entertainment services – covers use over the Internet.

It sounds like a mobile offering to me, personally, but I’m 1-24 at the moment so don’t listen to me.

If it is a mobile game, it wouldn’t be the first Tomb Raider-inspired mobile title from Square.

Lara Croft: Reflections, which was soft launched on iOS in December 2013, was a free-to-play, collectible card battle game which failed to meet expectations or catch on with consumers. The servers were shut down in August 2014.

Before that, there was the original Tomb Raider released on iOS, which included two bonus chapters culled from Tomb Raider Gold. That can’t really be considered a mobile-specific title, but we mention it only because it was released for iOS devices.

At any rate, we’ll keep an eye out for you.

The latest Tomb Raider title to be released was the co-op game Temple of Osiris, and there’s the upcoming Ride of the Tomb Raider slated for a holiday period on Xbox consoles.

Thanks, Destructoid.
