Players can support the charities by purchasing select digital offerings through its charity app for a chance to win a play session with a celebrity.

Both online and real-life opportunities to meet said celebrity are offered, and the first famous person on the docket is Shaun White who will be playing Destiny in mid-March.

Future celebrity participants will be announced as the incentive rolls on, but it looks like Snoop Dogg, Golden State Warriors NBA player Stephen Curry, and LA Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig are also involved.

How it works, is PS4 owners purchase and download digital themes and other items via the PlayStation Heroes app. Each dollar spent enters the user into a sweepstakes in which they can win a celebrity gaming session.

Sony said 90% of the item purchase price will go to the aforementioned organizations, with the company already handing each one $100,000 to get things started.

The PlayStation Heroes app for PS4 will be available for download on February 24 from the PlayStation Store.
