PSN sub accounts can now graduate to a real PSN ID when the account holders reach the age of 18.
The PSN has a pretty neat feature called sub accounts, allowing parents to control and monitor their children’s usage without locking them off entirely from online features.
The only problem is that when you grow up and want your own PSN ID, you lose all your trophies and other data – until now. Sony has today announced that sub accounts can be upgraded to full PSN accounts.
“If you were on a sub account and turned 18 (Happy belated birthday!), you may want to upgrade to a master account to access the full feature set of PlayStation’s online experience, including PlayStation Store. Your profile will be carried over when upgrading to a master account, along with items like your friends list and Trophies,” Sony said on the PlayStation Blog.
Currently you need to complete the upgrade process through a website, but it will later be possible from a PS4.
