Let me fill you in on the Harvest Moon saga.

The games you’ve been buying and enjoying for years under the title Harvest Moon are called Bokujō Monogatari in Japan. Originally created by Yasuhiro Wada, the series was developed at Victor Interactive and later Marvellous AQL. Harvest Moon has traditionally been localised and published in North America thanks to Natsume, which owns the rights to the brand.

For some reason Marvellous and Natsume have parted ways, and the new Bokujō Monogatari game is being published by XSEED. Since XSEED doesn’t have the rights to the Harvest Moon brand, the game is releasing under the title Story of Seasons – while Natsume’s latest Harvest Moon game, The Lost Valley, was developed by Tabot Inc and is not part of the Bokujō Monogatari series.

All caught up? Good. Today’s news is that Story of Seasons hits 3DS in North America on March 31.

If you like Harvest Moon, you’ll probably like this. It’s reportedly much like the last few entries, but has multiplayer connectivity so players can trade items.
